ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY
The Bharathiyar Univeristy was established at Coimbatore by the Government of Tamil Nadu in February, 1982 under the provision of the Bharathiyar University Act,1981(Act 1 0f 1982). The Post-Graduate Centre of the University of Madras, which was functioning in Coimbatore before 1982, formed the core of the Bharathiyar University. In May, 1985, the University received the recognition from University Grant commission (UGC), New Delhi for the purpose of Grants.
The University is situated at the backdrop of Maruthamalai Hills in the Western Ghat Range, in sprawling campus of 1000 acres of land, 15 kms. from the city of Coimbatore. As of now the University has 119 affiliated colleges, 81 Arts and Science Colleges, 35 Colleges of Education, 7 Management Institutions and 1 Air -Force Administration College. In addition, there are 19 Research Institutes of State and Central Governments which are recognised by this University for research purpose. And all these institutions cater to the educational needs of more than 1,5,000 students and research scholars

 LATERAL ENTRY:

Students having the required Entry Qualification and Diploma/Post-Graduate Diploma in Catering Science & Hotel Management or Equivalent of Recognised University/ Institute ma seek direct admission to M.Sc./B.Sc.II/III year under the Lateral Entry Scheme of the Bharathiar University. Further details can be obtained from the Off-Campus Study Centre.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Scholarships for SC/ST students: Scholarships for SC/ST students will be granted as per directives of Government of Tamil Nadu. Attendance Requirements: Attendance is compulsory for all the Off-Campus Courses. Theory and Practical classes shall be conducted by the Off-Campus Study Centre as per the guide line of the SDE, Bharathiyar University.

Industrial Training and Project work: Industrial Training and Project work shall be carried out by the students as per the directions issued by the SDE, Bharathiyar University.

Scheme of Examination: Normally the University shall conduct theory and practical examination during May and December every year at all the major locations throughout the country. For annual pattern courses main examination will be conducted in May and their supplementary examinations in December.
